Luke 10:25-37 - Stranger & Neighbor - Pastor David

This Sunday morning we’ll be considering a very familiar passage in Lukes gospel—Jesus’ parable of the Good Samaritan. The story is Jesus’ response to the question, “Who is my neighbor?”
We live in a world and perhaps find ourselves in a time where it’s easier to put people into categories, separate ourselves, even vilify others, than it is to meet them where they are, enter into relationship together, seek to understand, and share the love and truth of Jesus. Jesus uses this parable to flip the script and answer the question that the stranger is our neighbor and thus the one we are to love as ourself.
Let’s come together for worship ready to confront our fears about those who are strange to us, ready to receive the call to love the stranger, and even be compelled to move from the question of what might happen to us if we love the stranger to the question of what might happen to them if we do not.
